About the role
Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation is an inpatient rehabilitation hospital dedicated to providing exceptional and compassionate care to individuals with various health conditions. Responsibilities
- Perform patient food service contact, manage patient menus, obtain and communicate menu selections, and collect data.
- Prepare, assemble, deliver, and retrieve patient menus/selections according to prescribed diets.
- Offer alternative menus as allowed on prescribed diets and in compliance with food allergies, sensitivities, and preferences.
- Update and validate diet changes and menu labeling in the patient menu system.
- Create, print, and place menu labels as needed.
- Communicate patient care and food service issues to the department.
- Print and distribute reports such as meal tallies, patient diet lists, and nourishment lists.
- Follow HIPAA and Joint Commission guidelines in accordance with organizational and departmental policies.
- Perform clerical tasks in the Food & Nutrition office, including faxing, answering phones, filing, photocopying, etc.
- Maintain the organization and efficiency of the department office.
- Follow up with inquiries and requests in a timely manner and maintain proper levels of office and menu supplies.
- Attend in-services and other departmental meetings.
- Assist with tray line, food service aides, or catering as needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous office experience or equivalent required.
- Working knowledge of therapeutic diets preferred.
Per Diem Requirement
- Must be available to work six (6) shifts per six (6) week schedule; three (3) must be on the weekend (Saturday's or Sunday's).
