About the role
The Team Leader is responsible for supervising and evaluating nursing care, coordinating patient flow, ensuring patient safety, and providing mentorship to new staff members.
Responsibilities
- Coordinates unit activities and provides leadership for staffing and patient assignments.
- Responds to and provides leadership during crisis and emergency situations.
- Evaluates nursing care for assigned patients upon admission and periodically.
- Promotes efficient patient flow and encourages a safe environment.
- Serves as a clinical resource and subject matter expert for staff.
- Provides feedback and maintains records related to orientation, in-services, and unit competency assessments.
- Maintains productivity, financial, and patient satisfaction standards.
- Facilitates bidirectional communication and ensures timely information exchange.
- Ensures compliance with quality standards and regulatory agency requirements.
- May take management call as directed.
- Works collaboratively with other unit leaders and departments to achieve common goals.
Requirements
- Registered Nurse with current Alabama or Multistate License.
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience as a registered nurse, with specialty nursing experience preferred.
- Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider training.
- Completion of ACLS, PALS, TNCC, and other relevant certifications within 6 months of hire.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English.
- Ability to use computers, electronic mail, telephone, and texting.
- Ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, sit, and stoop for extended periods.
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry objects up to 50 pounds occasionally and up to 30 pounds frequently.
Qualifications
- BSN preferred, minimum Associates required.
- Ability to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
