Responsibilities

• Supervise nursing and clerical staff
• Provide high-level nursing care to inmates/detainees
• Maintain a safe and secure workplace
• Manage relationships with correctional staff, nurses, contract providers, and agencies
• Ensure staff scheduling, coverage, and monitor overtime
• Recruit, onboard, supervise, and evaluate staff performance
• Monitor staff compliance with facility policies
• Perform audits of medical records, narcotic counts, referrals, and sick calls
• Maintain adequate medical supplies
• Train medical orderlies in sanitary practices
• Monitor serious medical conditions
• Follow industry and company accreditation policies

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor's degree from an approved program; graduate of an accredited school of nursing required
• Current, unrestricted license to practice as Registered Nurse in the state the facility is located
• Two (2) years of direct work experience preferred
• Supervisory experience and competence in medical nursing care and psychiatric nursing care preferred
• Ability to work independently without direct supervision
• Must be a United States citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident

Physical Requirements

• Frequently: Lift or carry and push/pull up to 40 lbs.; walk, stand, sit, bend, stoop and reach above shoulder level
• Occasionally: Lift or carry and push/pull up to 60 lbs.; work with machinery and climb
