Nursing Supervisor-PRN Night Shift
About the Role
The Nursing Supervisor is a Registered Nurse responsible for delegating and providing authority and responsibility for selected programs and aspects of various programs associated with all nursing departments. You will plan, coordinate, and direct functions within the department of nursing during the evening and night shifts. This role supports the mission, vision, values, and strategic goals of Methodist Health System.
Responsibilities
- Interact with ancillary departments when closed.
- Demonstrate a strong knowledge base of nursing care and decision-making; offer guidance, support, and feedback that may influence clinical care of patients.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding patient and employee information and the integrity of patient medical records.
- Make staffing decisions and arrange coverage of units consistent with guidelines, patient acuity levels, and available resources; notify Nurse Manager of variances.
- Collaborate with bed control to assess overall bed availability and ensure appropriate patient placement.
- Counsel personnel and perform disciplinary action in the absence of the manager/director when delay would jeopardize effectiveness.
- Serve as a role model/resource, presenting a professional manner and exhibiting MHS vision, values, and Value Management principles.
- Engage in management activities such as hiring and managing Resource Team/PRN employees.
- Address age-specific care considerations for adults (18+ years) and children (12+ years).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred (equivalent experience, knowledge, and skills may be substituted).
- 2 years of RN experience required.
- Current Basic Life Support Certification required.
- Current license to practice professional nursing in Texas or eligibility to do so required.
- ACLS preferred upon hire but required within 30 days.
- Previous leadership experience preferred.
- Previous Critical Care experience preferred.
