About the role
The Nursing Station Clerk 1 will be assigned to inpatient units where there is daily, continual contact with residents to perform an array of duties.
Responsibilities
- Screen communications by providing relevant information to appropriate personnel and directing visitors to the appropriate locations.
- Ensure daily and routine lab slips are accurate with the necessary diagnosis codes and enter them into the database.
- Coordinate and schedule resident appointments and clinician referrals along with completion of necessary paperwork.
- Prepare and maintain resident medical records.
- Answer phones and take messages as necessary.
- Order, pick up, and deliver supplies for units.
- Set up and process new admissions and re-admissions paperwork.
- Answer call‑bells promptly and transport residents as needed.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Reassignment: Current New York State Department of Health Veterans Home at Batavia employee with permanent or contingent permanent status as a Nursing Station Clerk 1 or Nursing Station Clerk 1 Trainee.
- Transfers: Current New York State employee with one or more years
