Nursing/Simulation Lab Professor

About the Role

This position educates students and develops lab curricula and patient simulations in the Nursing Simulation Lab at Nashua Community College, reporting to the Department Chairperson of the Nursing Department.

Responsibilities

• Teaches and assists with assigned laboratory course schedules in the Simulation Lab setting for the Nursing Program.
• Teaches assigned specialty lectures across the curriculum.
• Manages, schedules, and sets up patient simulations for individual clinical groups and courses.
• Develops, modifies, delivers, and evaluates program laboratory curricula and instructional materials that comply with established course content, integrate theory with applications, and observe program and institutional accreditation standards.
• Maintains accessibility and availability to assist students with their learning needs in the Nursing Simulation Lab.
• Advises individuals or groups of students in academic matters relevant to the Nursing Simulation Lab.
• Supervises student learning activities and academic progress; maintains accurate records of student progress and accomplishments.
• Assists with planning patient simulation labs across the curriculum.
• Maintains, manages, and provides oversight for the lab classroom, simulation suite, equipment, inventory/supply levels, and simulation laboratory budget in collaboration with the department chair.
• Assists with the selection, placement, and follow-up of students at the college.
• Coordinates and leads departmental laboratory activities and operations, including mentoring faculty and staff, and maintaining collaborative relationships with clinical sites and laboratory vendors.
• Provides leadership in college-sponsored recruitment and retention activities such as career fairs, orientations, and award ceremonies.
• Engages in professional activities related to Nursing and Simulation Laboratory instruction, partnering the college with the wider community.
• Remains current in Nursing Laboratory instruction through professional associations, education, and training activities.
• Observes all academic policies, procedures, and institutional rules, demonstrating ethical and professional behavior.
• Serves on campus or system committees and teams.
• Complies with all system, college, state, and federal rules and regulations.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in Nursing with a concentration in medical/surgical nursing; or Master’s degree in Public Health, Health Care Administration, Health Promotion, or a related field (a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing is required if the Master’s is in a health-related field).
• Six years of teaching experience in nursing, including two years in the supervision of students or personnel in educational activities or academic program administration; or six years of business/industry experience in Nursing, including two years in supervision of personnel or program/project administration.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in New Hampshire.
