Nursing Program Director

Job Summary

The Nursing Program Director oversees the daily operations of the BSN program at the Albany Market campus. This role focuses on meeting New York Office of Professions standards, CCNE standards, and achieving acceptable NCLEX pass rates and graduation rates.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the daily operations of the BSN program at the Albany Market campus.
• Ensure compliance with New York Office of Professions, CCNE standards, and achieve acceptable NCLEX pass rates and graduation rates.
• Manage resources for the nursing program under guidance of the Campus Director.
• Ensure a supportive environment for capable students to succeed in the nursing program.
• Develop, implement, and coordinate programs and services to support nursing instructors in their teaching careers.
• Mentor faculty members to enhance their teaching styles and support professional growth.
• Coach and guide associates in carrying out their responsibilities and enhance inter-departmental relations.
• Initiate and/or assist with policy/procedure development related to the nursing program.
• Represent the nursing program within the community and promote its professional image.
• Collect and analyze classroom material to make recommendations for course consistency and effectiveness.
• Identify and review/revise current curricula, catalogs, and nursing student handbook.
• Ensure conformance with all system, state, and federal guidelines including but not limited to the New York Office of Professions, the Commission on Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, CCNE, and Bryant & Stratton College.
• Support the college’s transfer of credits and articulation agreements.
• Attend meetings as scheduled.
• Other functions and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

• A Doctorate degree from an accredited institution with a Master’s Degree in Nursing.
• Two years’ experience in supervisor capacity in the academic arena, preferably as an educational nursing director.
• Leadership and management skills necessary for success including administration, advising, teaching, planning, prioritizing, problem-solving, scheduling, evaluating, delegating, and budgeting.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to motivate and work with others in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Nursing faculty teaching hold a valid and unencumbered license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State.
