Job Summary

Advocate Health is seeking a Nursing Professional Development Generalist to support the orientation process, competency management, and educational activities for nursing and other healthcare personnel in cardiac med-surg and critical care settings.

About the Role

This role supports the orientation process, assists with competency management, designs educational activities, and collaborates with system and operational leadership to meet the education needs of the site and nursing departments.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, coordinates, facilitates, conducts, and evaluates orientation programs for nursing and other healthcare personnel.
  • Aids in competency management by capturing and analyzing data on knowledge and performance.
  • Designs educational activities to address practice gaps for identified target audiences.
  • Utilizes adult learning principles to plan, design, implement, and evaluate educational activities.
  • Provides strategies for lifelong learning and adjusts materials and teaching strategies as needed.
  • Collaborates with system and operational leadership to meet education needs.
  • Evaluates and analyzes the impact of programming on learners, organizational resources, and patient outcomes.
  • Develops and supports education needs based on specialty or department in collaboration with regional and system teams.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year worked in critical care as a registered nurse.
  • Typically requires 3 years of experience in front line nursing.
  • Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the team member practices.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.

Qualifications

  • Excellent written and oral communications including strong presentation/speaking skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Skills

  • Knowledge of adult learning principles.
  • Ability to adjust materials and teaching strategies based on learner needs.
  • Ability to evaluate and analyze the impact of programming.
  • Ability to develop and support education needs based on specialty or department.

Pay

Base compensation within the position’s pay range based on factors such as qualifications, skills, relevant experience, and/or training. Premium pay such as shift, on call, and more based on a teammate’s job. Incentive pay for select positions. Opportunity for annual increases based on performance.

Schedule

Monday-Friday 0800-1600, flexibility to see off shifts and weekends as needed.
