About the role
This Nursing Professional Development Generalist position supports Procedural and Peri-anesthesia teammates at Levine Children's Hospital including LCH Preop, PACU, PAT, radiology spaces and pediatric surgical patients. The primary focus is to support site level and system initiatives as needed, develop, coordinate, and implement orientation, training programs, and continuing education for nursing and other healthcare personnel.
Responsibilities
- Supports the orientation process by developing, coordinating, facilitating, conducting and evaluating orientation programs for nursing and other healthcare personnel.
- Aids in competency management, using tools to capture data on knowledge base and performance.
- Designs educational activities to address practice gaps for identified target audiences in collaboration with NPD Specialists.
- Utilizes best practice standards including adult learning principles in the planning, design, implementation, and evaluation of educational activities.
- Contributes to the professional development of others and supports life-long learning.
- Collaborates with system and operational leadership to meet the education needs of the site and nursing departments.
- Adjusts materials and teaching strategies to meet learners' developmental levels, learning needs, readiness, ability to learn, language preference, and culture.
- Evaluates and analyzes the impact of programming on learners, organizational resources, and patient outcomes and makes adjustments as needed.
- Develops and supports education needs based on specialty or department in collaboration with regional and system teams.
Requirements
- Licensed RN in the state where the team member practices.
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
- Typically requires 3 years of experience in front-line nursing.
Qualifications
- Excellent written and oral communications including strong presentation/speaking skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, planning and problem-solving skills.
- Critical thinking and analytical skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Skills
- Knowledge of principles of growth and development over the life span.
- Ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to their age-specific needs.
- Knowledge of adult learning principles.
