About the role
The Nurse Manager leads a team passionate about providing compassionate, coordinated care. They manage outpatient departments, ensuring day-to-day operations align with the Cancer Center's strategic plan.
Responsibilities
- Manages nursing staff and nursing activities in outpatient departments, including patient care, record keeping, and personnel issues.
- Supports the Cancer Center's mission, vision, policies, goals, and objectives.
- Monitors patient care areas and other facilities for cleanliness and readiness.
- Schedules nursing staff and manages productivity levels.
- Trains new staff members and develops existing staff members.
- Maintains current certifications and tracks staff certifications.
- Reviews and recommends process improvements for performance assessments.
- Implements performance improvement policies and trains employees on these policies.
- Assists with providing feedback in the collection and preparation of budget information.
- Manages inventory levels and supplies for the department.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in nursing required.
- Graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program preferred.
- At least three years' experience as a Registered Nurse (RN) in a clinical role.
- Two years leadership/management experience preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of the nursing practice act and standards of nursing care.
- Currently holds an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing.
- Obtains and maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.
Qualifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Skills
- Strong leadership and management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with staff and patients.
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations and standards.
