Responsibilities

  • Deliver instruction according to an approved course syllabus using accepted and effective teaching methods; develop daily lesson plans; advise and tutor students; maintain current and accurate attendance and grade records; remain current in applicable program teaching field; participate in faculty meetings, instructional seminars, and in-service training sessions.
  • Serve as an educator, role model, mentor, and facilitator.
  • Focus extensively on facilitating student learning associated with prescribed course and program learning outcomes.
  • Actively and substantively participate in assessment of student learning activities to maximize the potential for students to learn what is necessary to meet prescribed outcomes.

Your Experience Includes:

  • 3 years of occupational experience in the subject field or a closely related field.
  • Direct patient care experience within the previous five (5) years in the nursing area to which he or she is assigned, which can be met by:
    • one (1) year’s continuous, full-time or its equivalent experience providing direct patient care as a registered nurse in the designated nursing area;
    • or
    • one (1) academic year of registered nurse level clinical teaching experience in the designated nursing area or its equivalent that demonstrates clinical competency.
  • Completion of at least one (1) years’ experience teaching courses related to registered nursing or completion of a post-baccalaureate course which includes practice in teaching registered nursing.
  • Must demonstrate training in educational methods, testing and evaluation and evidence strength in instructional methodology, delivery and techniques as indicated by evaluation by supervisory personnel within 30 days of beginning instruction.
  • Working with online learning management systems to further engage the student learning process desirable.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite Products, especially Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and other MS office products as needed.

Education

  • A minimum of a master's or higher degree from an accredited college or university which includes course work in nursing, education or administration degree from an academic institution accredited by a regional or national accrediting agency that is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education which includes course work in nursing or in natural, behavioral or social sciences relevance to nursing practice.

Licenses/Certifications

  • Current unencumbered Registered Nurse License in Texas required.
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation card.
