Nursing Clinical Lab Instructor
About the role
Cecil College is seeking a Nursing Clinical Lab Instructor to manage clinical skills practice labs, supervise students, and provide instruction and evaluation.
Responsibilities
- Coordinates the scheduling of clinical practice labs among nursing and Health Care Careers.
- Supervises and assists students in practicing nursing skills.
- Acts as a resource person for students during open practice hours.
- Evaluates student performance in clinical test-outs.
- Provides supplemental student support and supervision of clinical skills for students referred by faculty.
- Collaborates with faculty members in developing new simulated laboratory experiences for students.
- Mentors students in professional development by role modeling appropriate behavior and critical thinking.
- Collaborates with faculty members to coordinate scheduling of students for test outs and workshops.
- Inventory, coordinates ordering, stores, cleans, and maintains hi-fidelity mannequins and laboratory supplies and equipment.
- Collaborates with faculty members to identify and request supportive services, equipment, and software for assigned labs.
- Develops and revises policies and procedures related to the safe usage of equipment and lab space.
- Attends all scheduled and special nursing faculty meetings and other group meetings as assigned.
- Keeps up-to-date with current clinical issues and teaching methods suitable for the clinical learning laboratory.
- Evaluates student performance both formatively and summatively.
- Sets and submits student and agency evaluations and other required documentation.
- Participates in the accreditation process as necessary.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in nursing, master’s degree preferred.
- Experience: At least five years as a registered nurse, teaching and simulation experience preferred.
- Licensure: Current unencumbered licensure as a Registered Nurse in Maryland or Multistate.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of simulation equipment and function.
- Former work with simulation and nursing technologies and instructional methodology.
Scheduling
This is an in-person part-time position. Weekdays and some Saturdays and evenings. 20 hours per week.
Physical Demands
- Ability to lift supplies and equipment.
- Physical activities include climbing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, pulling, lifting, grasping, twisting, and sitting.
Work Environment
The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as office or meeting and training rooms. This includes use of safe workplace practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, and observance of fire and building safety regulations and traffic signals when driving.

Pay and Schedule
This is a non-exempt (hourly) position. Salary is $42/hr. Contributions to the Maryland State Retirement Pension System may be required based on budgeted hours of a position.
