About the role
Provides prescribed care involving the application of an extensive body of specialized treatment techniques to patients in an inpatient care unit. Essential Job Functions include:
- Makes specialized observations on the patient's condition during the course of rounds, records and reports observations to a physician or registered nurse.
- Takes records of the patient’s vital signs, such as temperature, blood pressure, pulse, or respiration rate and checks for pain level and reports data to registered nurse or provider.
- Assists patients with activities of daily living, i.e. serving meals, feeding, brushing teeth, dressing and undressing, bathing, eliminating, range of motion and ambulating.
- Administers specialized treatment regimen of nursing care as directed by a physician or registered nurse.
- Turns and re-positions bedridden patients alone or with assistance and takes appropriate measures to prevent pressure sore.
- Ensures a safe, clean, orderly and sanitary environment for patients by cleaning up minor spills, making beds, cribs and bassinets, maintaining wards, sleeping quarters and recreational areas.
- Collects specimens such as urine, feces, or sputum, and transports to the lab and blood bank.
- Documents on patient's medical record using the hospital medical system; performs some clerical work related to patient care as assigned, and other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
Performs the general duties of a nursing attendant; ordering of supplies, picking up stock orders and restock; performs cycle count of inventory; restock clinical resuscitation carts using approved quality checklist. Ordering of specialty items from Supply Chain. Leads and/or participates in special projects (clinical or non-clinical) as directed. Participates in division/facility wide committees.
Requirements
- One (1) year of experience at the level of Nursing Attendant II.
- Certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA) issued by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH).
- A current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers (CPR & AED) issued by the American Heart Association.
Qualifications
Desirable Qualifications: Additional credit will be awarded to applicants who possess additional experience at the level of Nursing Attendant II.
