Nursing Assistant - Short Stay Unit

About the role

Fairview is seeking a Nursing Assistant at the M Health Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina, MN. This position operates 56 hours every two weeks on the Evening shift, with 8-hour shifts and a weekend rotation.

Responsibilities

• Assists the professional nurse/caregiver in delivering patient care
• Transports patient and/or equipment
• Sets up and maintains patient rooms
• Reorders and stocks supplies
• Performs routine duties such as personal grooming, bathing, toileting, feeding, skin care, oral hygiene, specimen collection, position/ambulating, changing linens, and answering call lights
• Maintains patient condition by accurately taking and recording vital signs, placing patients on/off monitors, and reporting unusual findings
• Aids in admissions, transfers, and discharges of patients
• Orients patients and their families to the environment and ensures belongings are accounted for
• Transports patients, equipment, specimens, and supplies
• Affirms patients’ punctuality for appointments
• Uses transfer belts for patient transfers and ambulation
• Cleans and sets up rooms and equipment
• Performs other tasks as needed

Requirements

• Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) certification required
• Completion of Fairview’s OnTrack Nursing Assistant training program or another Fairview-sponsored program
• One year of recent direct care experience in a long-term, home care, or acute care setting
• Current enrollment in an LPN, RN, or Nurse Practitioner program with completed clinical rotation
• Current Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry certification upon hire

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Successful completion of a nursing assistant training program
• Experience in a healthcare setting

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Physical stamina and ability to lift and move patients
• Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions

Pay

The posted compensation range corresponds to the minimum and maximum pay rates outlined in your union agreement for the respective job classifications at the time of job posting. An individual's pay rate within this range may be influenced by various factors including FTE, skills, knowledge, educational background, and qualifying experience as specified in the contract. If your role is eligible for a sign-on bonus, the bonus program that is approved and in place at the time of offer will be honored.
