Responsibilities

  • Supports personal hygiene and daily living needs of patients.
  • Provides comfort, transportation, and vital sign monitoring.
  • Cleans and prepares treatment space while ensuring patient safety.
  • Completes age-specific competency assessments.
  • Maintains a positive attitude and responds promptly to patient needs.
  • Communicates patient issues to the appropriate staff and documents all data accurately.
  • Documents patient activities and responses to activities according to the patient's plan of care.
  • Ensures patient environment is neat and tidy, handles spills and room temperature, and utilizes Integrated Services team as needed.
  • Attends to patient amenities like newspapers and mail.
  • Performs housekeeping activities to maintain a safe, efficient, effective, and sanitary patient care environment.
  • Prepares exam rooms and equipment to facilitate treatment and examinations.
  • Maintains work areas to ensure a healthy environment by cleaning and organizing equipment, rooms, and work spaces.
  • Organizes and maintains all clinical care stock and restocks clinical care areas independently.
  • Manages sterilization needs for the department and ensures equipment is returned to the appropriate room within acceptable times.
  • Answers call lights in a timely manner and relays requests to appropriate resources when necessary.
  • Assists with intake, scheduling, and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • Completion of first clinical rotation as Nursing Assistant preferred.
  • Successful completion of the 75-hour state-approved Nurse Assistant course or 6 months of Nurse Assistant experience required.
  • Previous customer service, cleaning, food service, and/or patient-related experience preferred.
  • One to three months on-the-job experience to learn hospital procedures and work routines preferred.
  • Previous experience in patient care settings such as hospital, clinic, or nursing home preferred.
  • Previous experience with direct patient contact preferred.
  • Orientation and on-the-job experience will be provided to learn hospital procedures and work routines.
  • Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) strongly preferred at time of hire, required within 3 months of hire.

  • Able to collect, record, and report patient needs to the appropriate caregiver.
  • Requires ability to demonstrate critical thinking skills commensurate with job description.
  • Participates in mandatory in-services and continuing education programs as mandated by policies and procedures/external agencies and as directed by supervisor.
