About the role
The Nursing Assistant at UCI Health assists professional and technical nursing personnel in providing patient care. Duties include taking and recording vital signs, assisting with hygiene and elimination, and maintaining a clean and safe unit environment.
Responsibilities
- Taking and recording vital signs
- Aiding with hygiene and elimination
- Maintaining a clean and safe unit environment
- Stocking unit supplies
- Operating hospital equipment as directed
- Performing routine clerical tasks
- Assisting with other related duties as assigned
Requirements
- Understanding of basic medical terminology
- Effective communication skills in English
- Ability to work weekends and holidays
- Certified Nurses Assistant (C.N.A.) certification or enrollment in an accredited nursing program with completion of at least one clinical semester
- Demonstrated patient care experience, preferably in an acute care setting
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon hire
- Approved workplace violence responder training program within 30 days of hire and annually thereafter
Qualifications
- Must be able to read, write, and speak effectively in English
- Must be able to work weekends and holidays
- Must be certified as a Nursing Assistant or enrolled in an accredited nursing program with completion of at least one clinical semester
- Must demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively in a therapeutic way
- Must have current BLS certification upon hire
- Must complete approved workplace violence responder training program within 30 days of hire and annually thereafter
