Nursing Assistant - Night
Regions Hospital is hiring a compassionate, collaborative, and committed Nursing Assistant driven to provide excellent care to patients. As part of the nursing team, you will use your technical and people skills to positively impact patient care and overall experience.
About the role
As a Nursing Assistant, you will assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) and provide patient care treatments, including discontinuing IVs, restraint monitoring, and collecting vitals, weights, and intake & output. You will also collect specimens (urine, stool, finger-stick blood glucose), respond to patient call lights, communicate with patients and visitors, assist nurses with procedures, and document in the electronic health system.
New hires receive 2-3 weeks of training covering the electronic health system, hospital safety, disengagement skills, restraints, and unlicensed assistive partner skills.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs).
- Provide patient care treatments, including discontinuing IVs and restraint monitoring.
- Collect patient vitals, weights, and intake & output.
- Collect specimens such as urine, stool, and finger-stick blood glucose.
- Respond to patient call lights and requests.
- Communicate with patients and visitors.
- Assist nurses with procedures as requested.
- Document and chart in the electronic health system.
Requirements
- Completion of a certified nursing assistant (CNA) training program (may include being listed on the MN Registry), or
- Experience in an acute care or long-term care setting as a Nursing Assistant and/or Emergency Room Technician (6 months at a minimum of 0.5 FTE), or
- Completion of one clinical rotation in an RN or LPN program within the past 12 months.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR certification from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
- Experience or nursing assistant education must have occurred within the last five years.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
- Prior experience in acute care or hospital setting (preferred).
- Nursing assistant certification (preferred).
- Proficiency using Electronic Health Record (EPIC) (preferred).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (preferred).
Schedule
- 0.7 FTE (28 hours per week).
- Night shift: 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM.
- Every other weekend and holiday required.
