Nursing Assistant (NA) - Full Time - Surgical Care Unit - Day Shift
About the Role
Penn Medicine Princeton Health (PMPH) is seeking a full-time Nursing Assistant (NA) to work the day shift within the Surgical Care Unit (SCU). The SCU is a 36-bed medical-surgical unit specializing in patients receiving inpatient surgical interventions. A portion of the unit, the Jim Craigie Center for Joint Replacement, is dedicated to total hip and knee replacement patients. The unit is certified as a Bariatric Center of Excellence and a Joint Commission Advanced Hip and Knee Replacement Center.
Responsibilities
- Assists nurses in the delivery of nursing care through participation in the nursing process.
- Performs clinical skills such as safe patient ambulation, pain management, drain care, nasogastric tube care, foley catheter care, chest tubes, central lines, wound vac and wound care, complex medication administration, and blood administration.
- Performs and documents nursing care activities as assigned, consistent with established procedures.
- Makes observations of patient condition and reports and documents information as requested.
- Communicates effectively with patients, families, and co-workers, and makes suggestions regarding patient needs for nursing care.
- Maintains constant communication with the interdisciplinary team.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- No related experience required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Successful completion of the hospital’s onsite Nursing Assistant Course during the first two weeks of orientation and prior to patient care assignment.

Pay
Salary range: $18.73 - $29.31/hour. Successful candidates are provided a specific rate based on factors including experience and education.
Schedule
Full-time position, 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM.
