Responsibilities
- Assists patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) according to hospital procedures.
- Reports all abnormal findings and changes in patient condition to the nurse in charge of the patient.
- Ambulates patients and uses assistive devices as appropriate to protect both the patient and staff member.
- Restocks rooms and maintains a safe and clean environment.
- Attends appropriate training programs, unit meetings, and other mandatory meetings.
- Sets goals for unit improvements, quality projects, and other enhancements to patient care.
- Demonstrates the UnityPoint Health Values and Standards of Behaviors as well as adheres to policies and procedures and safety guidelines.
- Demonstrates ability to meet business needs of the department with regular, reliable attendance.
Qualifications
- Must be actively enrolled in high school or equivalent program.
- High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
- Previous hospital or nursing home experience as a Patient Care Tech and/or completion of training in nursing school that covers Patient Care Tech type duties.
- Previous hospital or nursing home experience preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire required.
- Certified Nursing Assistant preferred.
