Responsibilities
- Auxiliary in preparing unit and patient room and bed to ensure adequate accommodation during hospital stay.
- Aid and accompany patients during admission, transfer, and discharge procedures with compassion and understanding.
- Take and record patient temperature, pulse, respiration, weight, height, blood pressure, and intake-output measurements as directed, documenting in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Report any unusual incidents, abnormal vital signs, or changes in patient condition or behavior promptly to appropriate personnel.
- Assist patients with daily living activities such as bed baths, oral hygiene, shaving, dressing, and linen freshening, demonstrating compassion and understanding.
- Prepare patients for meals, serve food, and feed patients when needed, showing compassion and respect for patient needs.
- Transport patients to and from designated areas of the hospital in a caring, considerate, and professional manner, ensuring they have a hospital issued armband.
- Maintain an attractive, comfortable, and safe environment for patients by cleaning rooms and equipment, promptly reporting issues, and handling linen and supplies efficiently.
- Complete patient reports at the start and end of each shift and document all care provided in the EMR.
- Participate in unit activities or programs to enhance department quality and efficiency with patient safety.
- Utilize equipment, supplies, facilities, and resources prudently and efficiently to support efficient departmental operations and high-quality healthcare services.
- Pursue participation in staff educational programs, approved continuing education courses, and specialized skill training to improve performance.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Communication and customer service skills
