Nursing Assistant - Med/Surg
Job Overview
Ridges Hospital is seeking a Nursing Assistant for their Med-Surg/Oncology unit in Burnsville, MN. This position is a .7 FTE, working 56 hours per 2 week pay period, rotating weekends and weekdays.
About the Role
The Nursing Assistant assists the professional nurse/caregiver in delivering patient care, transports patients and equipment, sets up and maintains patient rooms, and reorders and stocks supplies. They work under the direction of a professional nurse and may be given patient care assignments based on unit needs and manager discretion.
Responsibilities
- Personal grooming, bathing, toileting, feeding, skin care needs (clean and sterile dressing changes), applying ointments/creams, oral hygiene
- Positioning and ambulating patients
- Changing linens
- Promptly answering call lights
- Maintaining patient condition by accurately taking and recording vital signs, placing patients on/off monitors or equipment, and reporting unusual findings to the RN
- Aiding in admissions, transfers, and discharges of patients
- Orienting patients and their families to the environment and ensuring belongings are accounted for
- Transferring and transporting patients, equipment, specimens, and supplies
- Assisting with patient appointments
- Cleaning and setting up rooms and equipment
- Ordering and stocking supplies
- Accurately documenting tasks performed on appropriate forms
Requirements
- Successful completion of Fairview’s OnTrack Nursing Assistant training program or another Fairview-sponsored Nursing Assistant program
- Six months of recent direct care experience in a long-term, home care, or acute care setting (appropriate roles may include Nursing Assistant, PCA, Resident Assistant, or Emergency Room Technician)
- Current enrollment in an LPN, RN, or Nurse Practitioner program, and completion of one (1) semester of clinical rotation within the program
- Current certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire
Qualifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) certification required

Pay
Compensation within the posted range may vary based on various factors including skills, knowledge, relevant education, experience, and market conditions. A sign-on bonus may also be offered.
Schedule
This position works 8-hour shifts, every other weekend rotation (Friday, Saturday, Sunday), and on the Day (7am-3:30pm) and/or Evening (3pm-11:30pm) shift.
