About the Role

This position supports licensed staff by providing indirect patient care and performing nursing functions to facilitate quality healthcare delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate knowledge and skill to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served, including identifying and reporting changes in patient condition or behavior.
  • Assist with patient care and room preparation as directed by nursing staff to address patient needs and safety.
  • Order and restock patient care supplies to ensure adequate stock for daily patient care needs.
  • Comply with organizational policies, procedures, and practices to ensure quality job performance and hospital compliance.
  • Maintain all department and unit-specific competencies for the provision of patient care.
  • Display service excellence by practicing the mission, vision, and values of the organization to promote patient satisfaction.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Current BLS CPR certification or obtain within 6 months of hire.
  • Experience in at least one of the following:
    • Healthcare setting, direct patient care
    • Healthcare setting, non-direct patient care
    • Certified STNA
    • Student enrolled in a healthcare major
  • Strong collaboration and organizational skills.
  • Strong technology, typing, and computer skills.
  • Positive, service-oriented interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served, including assessing data reflective of patient status and interpreting age-specific needs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Medical terminology or medical training experience.

Physical Demands

  • Full range of body motion with intermittent activities in walking, sitting, lifting, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, and standing.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds or more, including lifting work above the shoulder.
  • Corrected vision and hearing within the normal range.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Classified “at risk” for possible occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens (HBV, HIV, etc.).
