Nursing Assistant I (Per Diem) - General Medicine (7 Bedtower)

Responsibilities

• Aid in routine examinations and procedures.
• Procure equipment and supplies during emergency situations.
• Aid in behavior modification plans/therapy in psychiatric settings.
• Provide informal support therapy to patients and families.
• Facilitate age-appropriate play for children.
• Maintain the therapeutic milieu activities on assigned unit.
• Measure vital signs, height and weight, collect specimens, perform skin preps/scrubs, conduct capillary blood glucose checks, manage wounds, perform range of motion exercises, assist with postural drainage, and provide supportive patient care.
• Assist with personal care tasks such as bathing, dressing, feeding, and assisting with ambulation.
• Clean work areas, restock supplies, transport patients/supplies/specimens, assist in employee/student orientation, and perform routine clerical functions.
• Reinforce teaching given by registered nurses or physicians and document patient understanding.
• Distribute patient education materials upon request.

Requirements

• No formal education required.
• North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services Nursing Assistant I license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Fluent in verbal and written English.
• Ability to develop basic computer skills.

Qualifications

• Prefer six (6) months of nursing assistant experience.
• Fluent in verbal and written English.
• Ability to develop basic computer skills.

$17.60 - $24.29 per hour (Hiring Range)

Schedule

Rotating shifts, general hours are 7am-7:30pm & 7pm-7:30am, with weekend and holiday rotation.
