About the role

Catholic Charities Boston is a large social service nonprofit organization dedicated to serving individuals and families in need with compassion and respect. The Nurse Aide/Home Health Aide (NA/HHA) Instructor position trains students for careers as nurse or home health aides.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction for the NA/HHA training program in accordance with Massachusetts Department of Public Health regulations.
  • Prepare lesson plans and instructional materials aligned with the approved curriculum.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment that promotes student success, professionalism, and active participation.
  • Evaluate student performance through written exams, skills assessments, attendance, and classroom participation.
  • Provide individualized coaching, tutoring, and remediation to help students successfully complete the program and pass the Massachusetts Nurse Aide certification exam.
  • Collaborate closely with the Workforce Development Director, Career Coach, and program staff to support student retention, completion, and employment outcomes.
  • Participate in curriculum improvements, program meetings, instructor trainings, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate and timely program documentation, including attendance records, grades, skills checklists, student files, and all required compliance paperwork.
  • Support contextualized English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) instruction and utilize effective teaching strategies for adult learners from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
  • Maintain a safe and organized classroom, laboratory, and clinical learning environment.
  • Afford assistance with student recruitment activities, orientation sessions, and information sessions as needed.
  • Work in a classroom setting with travel to long-term care facilities, hospitals, and other community locations as needed.
  • Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and exercise good decision making.
  • Attend internal and external meetings and trainings as required.

Requirements

  • Massachusetts Registered Nurse (RN) license current and in good standing.
  • Meets the Massachusetts Department of Public Health qualifications to serve as a Nurse Aide Training Program Instructor.
  • Minimum two years of practical experience in clinical care or long-term care facilities, including one year of long-term care experience, as required by state regulations.
  • Previous experience teaching adult learners is strongly preferred.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working with multicultural and multilingual populations is highly desirable.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, and Outlook and virtual platforms such as Zoom and Teams.
  • No lifting restrictions; able to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • A valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle for local travel.

Pay

The base pay range reflects what Catholic Charities reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this role at the time of posting and may be modified from time to time. Actual compensation in this range may be determined based on other factors, including but not limited to work experience, education and specialty training.

Schedule

Work is performed in a classroom setting with travel to long-term care facilities, hospitals, and other community locations as needed.
