Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree plus one-year related experience
  • Experience working with adults with substance abuse and co-occurring disorders highly desirable

Job Summary

Provide medical screening of all clients, conduct other screening, admission and referral interviews as scheduled; act as liaison with Assistant Medical Director to assure physical histories and examinations are scheduled and completed; Assist in providing recommended medical treatments and referrals; dispense medications when on duty and supervise self-medication procedures; maintain appropriate medical records and provide relevant medical information to other clinical staff; perform other related duties as required.

Duties

  • Obtain medical histories and schedule physical examinations and related lab work for new clients
  • Act as liaison with Assistant Medical Director to provide recommended treatments to clients
  • Act as a liaison with MAT providers
  • Congduct / monitor pill counts with MAT clients as needed
  • Obtain urine specimens as needed
  • Submit UA paperwork to billing
  • Assist in conducting evaluations of clients medical and/or psychiatric complaints and make referrals to appropriate clinics or physicians when indicated
  • Act as liaison with laboratory services
  • Dispense medication when on duty and monitor compliance with self-medication procedures as supervised by on-duty staff in absence of nurse
  • Provide appropriate documentation of all medical evaluations, complaints, recommendations, treatments and referrals
  • Assist with screening to provide nutritional counseling to clients in accordance with accepted dietary standards for healthful recovery and the individual’s needs
  • Congduct lecture/seminar educational activities for clients as scheduled
  • Organize and maintain inventory control of all medications, emergency, and medical supplies
  • Provide relevant medical information to other agency staff
  • Participate in staff and clinical meetings as scheduled
  • Participate in quality assurance and utilization review committee meetings and studies
  • Organize and monitor scheduling of the Samaritan van through communication
