About the Role
Location: Methodist Physicians Clinic - Family/Internal Medicine, 680 E Fremont Medical Park Drive - Fremont, NE
The Clinic Nursing Assistant assists providers in daily activities such as preparing patients for examination, obtaining vital signs, phlebotomy*, assisting providers with entering laboratory and radiology orders, scheduling diagnostic tests, and making and receiving phone calls. Must be willing to complete training in phlebotomy.
Responsibilities
- Joint (Floor and Phone) Medical Home:
- Maintain and update medical records and forms.
- Complete tracking forms and follow up on missed appointments and procedures.
- Assist Health Coaches by working patient lists and scheduling appointments as directed.
- Provide patients and caregivers with preprinted health-related instructions from the provider.
- Maintain work areas to ensure healthy environmental conditions by cleaning and organizing equipment and rooms (99% compliance).
- Transmit written prescription orders and medication refills according to department/provider protocols (99% compliance).
- Provide appropriate age-specific care to ensure understanding and comfort level of treatment.
- Complete Age Specific Quiz annually.
- Floor:
- Prepare exam rooms and equipment to facilitate treatment and examination by setting up instruments/equipment and stocking supplies (95% compliance).
- Prepare patients for provider exams by gathering data such as vital signs, height, weight, and reason for visit, and enter data into the medical record.
- Transcribe patient-provided information into the medical record (95% compliance).
- Assist providers by retrieving test results and medical records as directed (95% compliance).
- Perform EKGs as instructed.
- Perform phlebotomy with proper labeling, handling, and documentation of specimens (95% compliance).
- Transcribe prescriber instructions for electronic order entry for laboratory and radiology procedures (98% accuracy).
- Schedule tests and other appointments as directed (95% compliance).
- Phone:
- Answer calls according to protocol (98% compliance).
- Return phone messages according to protocol (98% compliance).
- Relay test results to patients as transcribed by the provider.
- Accurately complete pharmacy refill requests (100% compliance).
Requirements
- High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) preferred.
- Based on clinic need, Medication Aid Registry and completion of injection training required.
- Nurse Aide Registry at time of hire OR current experience working in the capacity of a nursing assistant OR enrolled in a nursing program required.
- American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) strongly preferred at time of hire, required within 3 months of hire.
- Nurse Aide Registry (NAR) preferred.
