Nursing Assistant - Evenings - Cardiac Step Down Unit - No CNA Required

About the role

We are seeking a highly motivated Nursing Assistant committed to delivering the highest quality care. Responsibilities

• Perform a wide range of clerical duties and direct patient care activities to support the care team and enhance quality care.
• Provide patient care within the nursing assistant scope of practice, following the multidisciplinary care plan for each patient.
• Identify, observe, and document patients’ physical needs according to established standards; report changes in patient condition to licensed personnel in a timely manner.
• Obtain and maintain specimen integrity in accordance with policy and physician order; accurately process and transport specimens to the laboratory.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living, including hygiene and linen changes; provide one-to-one patient safety watch as assigned.
• Perform point-of-care testing and maintain related instruments and quality control; assist in troubleshooting equipment and supplies.
• Serve as a preceptor and mentor for new staff and students in a positive manner.
• Perform clerical duties for admissions, transfers, discharges, and deaths; transcribe and process orders; release and confirm ordered tests; coordinate patient transportation and electronic communications.
• Assist with ordering supplies and communicating with food services to ensure appropriate patient diets.
• Operate and troubleshoot clerical equipment; schedule maintenance for computers, fax machines, phones, etc.
• Access non-controlled medication storage areas and transport non-controlled medications as needed; assist with transporting medications and blood products between Pharmacy, Blood Bank, and the unit.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED) – Required
• Minimum of 1 year of related work experience – Preferred
• Basic Life Support Certification – Required
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification (AHA) – Preferred

Pay

$16.25 minimum hiring rate with higher rates for experienced individuals; up to $3 shift differentials for evening, night, and weekend shifts; $1,500 sign-on bonus for eligible candidates; up to $40,000 in financial support to become a nurse.

Schedule

Full-time position (40 hours weekly) with 5–8 hour shifts, 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM, every other weekend and holiday rotation required.
