Responsibilities

  • Provides clinical support services to patient care staff by performing a variety of duties related to patient care.
  • Takes patient vital signs, assists patients with activities of daily living (e.g., bathing, feeding, toileting, etc.), inventories and replenishes supplies and equipment, and performs special assigned and or delegated duties such as performing EKGs, Point-of-Care testing, phlebotomy and splinting.
  • Documents in ECare pain scale, input and output, removing foley catheters, vital signs and reports abnormal values to the RN.
  • Collects specimens such as blood, urine or sputum using approved techniques and procedures.
  • Obtains and documents temperature, blood pressure, weight, respiration, pulse and pulse oxygen.
  • Maintains a visible presence in the Emergency Department between tasks.
  • Establishes a rapport with EMS providers, assists RN and EMS with initial patient contact and care upon arrival to ED bed and directs EMTs and Paramedics to RN for transfer of care reporting.
  • Applies splints and immobilization devices and outfits patients with crutches.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED
  • Work Experience: Less than 1 year as a Nursing Assistant, EMT or a Nursing Student
  • Required Licenses: Heartsaver CPR/AED Upon Hire
  • Required Certifications: Certified Nurse Aide Upon Hire
