About the role
The Nursing Assistant at UCI Health assists professional and technical nursing personnel in providing a variety of direct patient care services. Duties include taking and recording vital signs, assisting patients with hygiene and elimination needs, and maintaining a clean and safe unit environment.
Responsibilities
- Taking and recording vital signs
- Aiding with hygiene and elimination needs
- Maintaining a clean and safe unit environment
- Stocking unit supplies
- Operating hospital equipment as directed
- Performing routine clerical tasks
- Assisting with other related duties as assigned
Requirements
- Understanding of basic medical terminology
- Ability to read, write, and speak English effectively
- Ability to work weekends and holidays
- Certified Nurses Assistant (C.N.A.) or enrolled in an accredited nursing program with completion of at least one clinical semester
- Demonstrated patient care experience, preferably in an acute care setting
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon hire
- Approved workplace violence responder training program within 30 days of hire and annually thereafter
Qualifications
- Must be able to work weekends and holidays
- Must be certified as a Nursing Assistant or enrolled in an accredited nursing program with completion of at least one clinical semester
- Must demonstrate effective communication skills
- Must have current BLS certification upon hire
- Must complete approved workplace violence responder training program within 30 days of hire and annually thereafter
