Nursing Assistant - Day/Evening

About the role

As a Nursing Assistant at Regions Hospital, you will receive 2–3 weeks of training with our nursing education team to learn our electronic health system, hospital safety, disengagement skills and restraints, and unlicensed assistive partner skills. You will use your technical and people skills to positively impact patient care and the overall patient experience.

You will assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), provide patient care treatments (including discontinuing IVs, restraint monitoring, collecting vitals, weights, and intake & output), collect specimens (urine, stool, finger-stick blood glucose), respond to call lights, communicate with patients and visitors, assist nurses with procedures, and document in our electronic health system.

Schedule

0.7 FTE (28 hours per week) on either days (7 am–3:30 pm), evenings (3 pm–11:30 pm), or a combination of both. Every-other weekend and holiday shifts are required.

Requirements

• Completion of a certified nursing assistant (CNA) training program (may include being listed on the MN Registry), or
• At least 6 months of experience as a Nursing Assistant and/or Emergency Room Technician in an acute-care or long-term-care setting at a minimum of 0.5 FTE, or
• Completion of one clinical rotation in an RN or LPN program within the past 12 months
• Current Basic Life Support CPR certification from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association
• Experience or education must have occurred within the last five years

Preferred Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Prior experience in an acute-care or hospital setting
• Nursing assistant certification
• Proficiency using the EPIC Electronic Health Record
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
