Nursing Assistant Cardiology
About the role
Fairview Ridges Hospital is seeking a dedicated Nursing Assistant to support the Medical Surgical Cardiology/IMC unit. Located in Burnsville, MN, approximately 20 minutes from Minneapolis, MN, near the 35 E and 35 W junctions. This position is part-time, working 48 hours every two weeks, rotating weekends (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) and evenings (3 PM - 11:30 PM).
Responsibilities
- Assists the professional nurse/caregiver in delivering patient care.
- Transports patients and equipment.
- Sets up and maintains patient rooms.
- Reorders and stocks supplies.
- Performs routine duties such as personal grooming, bathing, toileting, feeding, skin care, oral hygiene, specimen collection, position/ambulation, changing linens, and answering call lights.
- Maintains patient condition by monitoring vital signs, placing patients on/off monitors, and reporting unusual findings.
- Aids in admissions, transfers, and discharges of patients.
- Orients patients and families to the environment and ensures belongings are accounted for.
- Transports patients to appointments and assists with transfers and ambulation using a transfer belt.
- Cleans and maintains patient rooms and equipment.
- Documents tasks performed accurately and promptly.
- Performs other assigned tasks as needed.
Requirements
- Successful completion of Fairview’s OnTrack Nursing Assistant training program or another Fairview-sponsored program.
- Six months of recent direct care experience in a long-term, home care, or acute care setting.
- Current enrollment in an LPN, RN, or Nurse Practitioner program with completion of one semester of clinical rotation.
- Current certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire.
- Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) certification required.
Qualifications
- Ontrack participants must obtain Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification upon completion of the OnTrack program.

Schedule
This position works 8-hour shifts, rotating weekends (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) and evenings (3 PM - 11:30 PM).
