About the Role
Responsible for resident services and other duties as assigned, including appropriate delegation to staff and volunteers. The role focuses on supporting resident well-being through personal services, housekeeping, laundry, social-recreational activities, medication assistance, meal services, and other tasks.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to and convey the philosophy of supporting dignity, privacy, independence, choice, individuality, and a home-like environment for residents.
- Receive and give reports from the previous shift.
- Review assignments with the designated supervisor and maintain familiarity with resident records.
- Assist with the orientation of new staff to job responsibilities.
- Assist with instrumental activities of daily living (ADLs), environmental orientation, and other care while encouraging self-care and independence.
- Set up, serve meals, and clean up afterward.
- Provide services as indicated on resident service plans, including bathing assistance, toileting assistance, transfer, and mobility assistance.
- Demonstrate knowledge of and follow infection control procedures.
- Maintain a clean, neat, comfortable, and safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors, including housekeeping services.
- Observe and communicate problems, concerns, or issues with resident units, the building, and grounds.
- Observe and communicate changes in resident status, needs, or preferences.
- Adhere to all work, safety, and administrative rules, as well as established policies and procedures.
- Record resident information as required.
- Demonstrate knowledge of and adhere to procedures for fire, life safety, disaster, security, and other emergency situations.
- Assist with individual resident and group social-recreational activities.
- Notify nurse or designated agent(s) of resident status changes as appropriate.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Willingness to adhere to assisted living principles in providing services.
- Ability and willingness to perform all position responsibilities adequately.
- Maintain confidentiality of all information.
- Acceptable attendance record and adherence to work schedule.
- Cleanliness, good grooming, and professional personal appearance consistent with dress requirements.
- Ability to organize and utilize time effectively to accomplish assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
- Mature behavior and attitude in speech and action.
- Professional interaction with residents, the public, and co-workers; willingness to assist co-workers when needed.
- Adequate and clear English speaking and writing ability for effective communication.
- Ability to spend long periods on feet and ambulate quickly.
- Ability to work safely and recognize potentially dangerous situations.
- Willingness to follow all policies and procedures.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and 35 pounds regularly.
- Routine physical demands include pushing, pulling, bending, walking, reaching, and stooping.
Qualifications
- 18–24 months of experience in a similar position.
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred.
- Twelve (12) plus years of education preferred.
- Attendance at mandatory in-service training.
- Maintain CPR/First Aid certification.
- Meet in-service training hours required for job classification and position.
