About the Role
Assists professional nursing staff by performing specific resident care tasks within the scope of practice of a Certified Nursing Assistant.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent required upon hire or transfer to the department.
- Listed with the Texas Department of Health Nurse Aid Registry.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) upon hire or transfer to the department.
- Successful completion of general and nursing orientation within three (3) months of hire.
Competencies
Completion of the following competencies within three (3) months of hire or transfer to the department:
- Unit orientation and unit safety
- Attendance requirements and Code Blue participation
- Safe, effective patient care: patient identification, vital signs, inputs/outputs, personal care, bed-making, patient transfer, and reporting
- Appropriate and timely documentation
- Effective time management, organizational, and prioritization skills
- Technical skills including equipment use
- Body substance isolation
- Age-specific care
- Professional communication
- Restraint training
- Safe handling for patients receiving chemotherapy
Working Conditions
