Nursing Assistant
About the role
Responsible for providing direct care to patients and serving the needs of patients in a manner conducive to their safety and comfort, under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, Nurse Manager, Assistant Head Nurse, and/or Department Director (possibly with guidance from an LPN) to contribute to meeting the mission and goals of Essentia Health.
Responsibilities
- Providing personal hygiene care
- Assisting with nutritional needs
- Providing comfort care and other assistance
- Appropriately and safely transferring patients
- Taking vital signs and completing recordkeeping
- Recognizing and promptly reporting changes in patient condition to the RN
- Maintaining a safe, clean environment for patients to promote the healing process
- Organizing and implementing non‑nursing functions of assigned unit(s) to facilitate workflow, enhance unit productivity, and provide excellent customer service to patients, families, visitors and staff
- Performing clerical and reception duties; requisitioning supplies, equipment, and services as directed; assisting with scheduling
Requirements
- BLS certified or ability to become certified within 1 month from hire date
- Meet ONE of the following:
- 6 months of patient care experience
- Completion of one semester of clinical rotations within an accredited nursing program
- Verifiable completion of a recognized nurse aide training program
- Current registration on applicable state nursing assistant registry
Schedule
48 hours per 2‑week period; every other weekend; rotating 8‑hour shifts:
- Day Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
- Evening Shift: 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM
- Overnight Shift: 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM
Pay
Compensation range: $16.90 – $22.23 per hour. Eligible candidates may receive a $1,500 commitment bonus.
