Nursing Assistant and Unit Secretary - Medical ICU- Day

About the role

MICU is a 10-bed ICU that provides care to medically ill patients 18 years and older. It serves as an overflow unit for neuro patients and offers care including invasive hemodynamic monitoring, chest tubes, venous thrombolytics, arterial alteplase, ventilator management, arterial line, tracheostomy care, CRRT utilization, EKOS catheter-directed, ultrasound thrombolysis, and TPE therapy.

Responsibilities

• Provides general nursing care and personal care assistance to patients, including bathing, dressing, eating, changing bed linens and bed pans and positioning.
• Assists in the preparation and transportation of patients for tests, procedures, etc.
• Maintains patient rooms, nursing areas, supply carts, etc. at required levels.
• Greets, directs and assists visitors, patients, and staff.
• Serves as a knowledgeable resource for multiple applications such as Patient Management and PowerChart.
• Schedules patient care services.
• Communicates changes in the patient's condition and other urgent information to the Registered Nurse.
• Orders and stocks supplies on an ongoing basis.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Less than 1 year relevant experience
• Basic Life Support upon hire
• Certified Nurse Aide upon hire
• Completion of course for unit secretaries and medical terminology (preferred)

Skills

Excellent communication/interpersonal skills, excellent computer skills and ability to use various software applications in a Windows environment.
