Major Responsibilities/Activities
- Teach courses consistent with the catalog description and content map
- Teach assigned classes at the scheduled time and place and meet required contact hours
- Integrate evidence-based practice in fulfilling all roles of faculty practice
- Collaborate with colleagues for instructional improvement via professional peer review
- Submit reports and requests for information promptly
- Fulfill the Code of Ethics of the university and for the profession
- Create an effective learning environment for students
- Effectively communicate with students
- Facilitate critical reflection and support innovation in students
- Provide timely feedback and fairly evaluate students’ progress
- Evaluate student clinical, laboratory and classroom performance and provide individual counsel and guidance as necessary to promote student success
- Propose plans to improve students’ performance
- Maintain appropriate records such as clinical evaluations, test scores, anecdotal notes and attendance on an ongoing basis to document evidence of student progress
- Assignments may be adjusted for special assignments at the discretion of the Program Director
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: Master’s degree in nursing or plan in progress and completion within five years of date of hire required; Doctorate in nursing preferred
- Licensure/Certification: A current Indiana RN license required; Certification in specialty area preferred
- Experience: Minimum of three years’ experience in the discipline; Prior teaching experience in clinical or classroom setting preferred
- Requirements for all School of Health Sciences faculty engaged in clinical instruction: Current TB testing, current CPR certification, documentation of Hepatitis B immunization, other requirements as specified by clinical facilities
- Knowledge and Skills: Competence in educational principles and techniques used in higher education classrooms, laboratory and clinical settings; Knowledge of the profession including theory and practice, procedures, and regulations; Proficiency in interpersonal and communication skills (verbal, written and electronic) necessary to interact effectively with students, faculty, professional staff, administration, clinical affiliates, and the community
