Nursery School Teacher or Teacher Assistant
About the Role
We are looking for happy, loving, well-rounded, enthusiastic teachers for several of our classrooms. We operate August through May and follow the Greenville County Schools calendar. Classes include children ranging in age from 3 months to 2.5 years old. We are open Mondays through Fridays, 9:00 AM–2:00 PM, with early stay options starting at 8:00 AM and late stay until 2:15 PM. We are a registered part-time childcare ministry of First Presbyterian Church.
All Childcare Workers should exhibit the following characteristics as a Staff Member of First Presbyterian Church:
- Be of the Christian faith
- Act with integrity, humility, and flexibility
- Have a willing heart, teachable spirit, and positive attitude
- Conduct themselves professionally and refrain from gossip and slander of any form
- Be reliable and dedicated
- Be polite, friendly, and courteous
Responsibilities
- Adhere to all DSS and DHEC regulations and all First Presbyterian Church policies and procedures
- Ensure physical and emotional safety of all children in your care
- Meet all basic needs of all children in your care
- Nurture children in a manner that demonstrates Christ's love
- Maintain relationships with parents
- Manage classroom effectively
Requirements
- Completed the equivalent of a high school diploma
- Obtain 15 hours of continuing education every year
- Align with the mission of the church
- General knowledge and understanding of children and their needs
- Must pass all screening requirements per DSS and First Presbyterian policies, including health assessments, drug screening, and background check

First Presbyterian's Nursery School is a registered program that serves parents of children ages three months through two and a half years. Our goal is to help infants and toddlers feel happy and secure at church, feel good about themselves, and learn that God loves them. We provide opportunities for their spiritual, social, and developmental growth through play activities in a Christian environment.
Schedule
- Part-time, August through May
- Follows Greenville County Schools calendar
- Hours: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–2:00 PM
- Early stay option: 8:00 AM
- Late stay option: until 2:15 PM
