Nurse Technician RN Student - Heart and Vascular ICU

Responsibilities

• Affords assistance during patient admission, discharge, and transfer.
• Measures, collects, and documents patient data, including vital signs and reports symptoms and changes to the Registered Nurse.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living such as personal hygiene, linen changes, and meal preparation.
• Transports and assists with mobility needs of patients.
• Retrieves and delivers medications from the pneumatic tube system or pharmacy, following the nurse's instructions.
• Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of patient rooms and nursing station areas.
• Collaborates with physicians, assisting with examinations, treatments, and special tests, and collecting patient specimens.
• Performs procedures under the direction of a Registered Nurse, utilizing equipment safely.
• Adheres to nursing standards and policies, ensuring the quality and efficiency of hospital nursing services.
• Utilizes equipment, supplies, and resources prudently and efficiently, participating in quality improvement programs.
• Monitors and reports any behavioral or psychological changes in patients to the assigned nurse or charge nurse.
• Adjusts care based on patients' needs and developmental levels.

Qualifications

• Student Nurse in good standing with completion of basic patient skills within the nursing program.
• Currently enrolled in a Registered Nurse accredited School of Nursing program at the Junior or Senior level, having completed the Med/Surg clinical rotation.
• BLS Certification required.
