About the Role
The Nurse Technician provides fundamentals of nursing care (i.e., personal and restorative care) to patients according to predefined guidelines, a plan of care established by a Registered Nurse, and under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse staff. Duties reflect the semester completed within the NLN. All performed duties must align with Singing River Health System procedures and policies, accreditation standards, and governing guidance for healthcare employees.
Responsibilities
- Deliver basic nursing care under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse.
- Perform duties aligned with the semester completed in an NLN-accredited nursing program.
- Adhere to Singing River Health System’s procedures, policies, and accreditation requirements.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in an NLN-accredited School of Nursing.
- Must provide an updated transcript to Human Resources after completing each semester.
- Classification based on program progression:
- Nurse Tech I – Enrolled in a nursing program.
- Nurse Tech II – Completed level I, enrolled in level II.
- Nurse Tech III – Completed level II, enrolled in level III.
- Nurse Tech IV – Completed level III, enrolled in level IV.
- Must complete and maintain BCLS certification upon hire and/or transfer.
- Must complete de-escalation training by the end of orientation (90 days).

Physical Demands
- Moderately active work involving frequent movement within the facility and occasional travel to other SRHS locations.
- Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling objects, including the human body, with negligible force.
- Exposure to body fluids, sputum, and tissues, with potential infectious disease hazards.
- Repetitive motions, such as typing or using office equipment.
- Ability to perceive sound at normal speaking levels and make fine auditory discriminations.
- Close visual acuity, including the ability to shift focus between a computer monitor and printed materials.
- Ability to remain active for extended periods without undue fatigue.
- Flexibility to work assigned schedules, including off days, shifts, or weekends, based on hospital needs.
