Unit 5 Children's is a Pediatric Med Surg floor with 24 private rooms at Helen DeVos Children's Hospital. Nurses are often drawn to this team for the variety of patients and the team culture. The team is competent in caring for a large array of both surgical and medical patients, specializing in:

• Ortho
• Trauma
• Neurosurgery
• General Surgery
• Psychiatric/Behavioral patient care

Responsibilities

Under the supervision of a Nurse and following hospital policies and procedures, performs various nursing care tasks and treatments on assigned patients. Responsibilities include:

• Performing routine bedside nursing activities such as bathing and personal grooming of patients
• Taking vital signs
• Providing wound care
• Assisting with ambulation
• Helping patients with bedpans or urinary devices

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA (American Heart Association) or ARC (American Red Cross) certification required within 90 days

• Shift: Night (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
• Weekly Scheduled Hours: 36
• Days Worked: Variable; self-schedule
• Weekend Frequency: Every third weekend
