Nurse Tech - ICU Step Down - Nights

Our staff works in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment providing expert care to patients recovering from acute brain injuries, respiratory failure, and more. Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care, including total assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, toileting, and mobility.
  • Monitor, obtain, and accurately document vital signs, intake and output, and other patient observations.
  • Observe patients for changes in condition and promptly communicate concerns to the Registered Nurse.
  • Perform IV placement as directed by licensed nursing staff and within the scope of training.
  • Perform Foley catheter insertion, maintenance, and catheter care.
  • Conduct EKGs and report abnormal findings to the appropriate clinical staff.
  • Perform phlebotomy for laboratory specimen collection.
  • Assist with patient transfers, repositioning, ambulation, admissions, transfers, and discharges.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment by following infection prevention, safety, and hospital policies.
  • Respond promptly to patient call lights and assist with meeting patient needs.
  • Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and other members of the healthcare team to support positive patient outcomes.
  • Participate in hospital orientation, ongoing education, and competency training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of certification and training.

Requirements

  • Compassionate, patient-focused caregiver with a commitment to delivering exceptional care.
  • Strong clinical skills in:
    • IV placement
    • Foley catheter insertion and care
    • EKG performance
    • Phlebotomy
    • Comprehensive ADL assistance and documentation
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, patient safety, and quality of care.
  • Ability to safely lift, transfer, and assist patients using proper body mechanics and hospital equipment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
  • Current Maryland CNA II license required.
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR Certification required.
  • One (1) to three (3) years of patient care experience preferred.
  • Successful completion of hospital orientation and required competency training.
  • Basic computer skills and experience with electronic medical documentation preferred.

Pay

$20.00 to $25.00 per hour, based on experience.
