Responsibilities

• Follows CDC isolation guidelines
• Demonstrates appropriate use of PPE
• Performs hand hygiene according to policy
• Enforces safety regulations
• Assists in the delivery of patient care
• Documents and reports all procedures accurately according to department policy
• Participates in obtaining nursing history and evaluating age-appropriate behavior, motor skills, and physiological norms
• Performs treatments according to policy and procedure
• Evaluates patients' developmental level, identifies increased physical/emotional dependency needs, and assesses the availability of support systems
• Exhibits a desire to learn and upgrades skills

Requirements

• Must demonstrate ability and understanding of the age-specific care requirements of geriatric, adult, adolescent, and pediatric patient populations
• Must have close attention and mental effort in executing multiple assigned duties
• Must have knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance with all safety and infection control policies
• Must have effective communication skills, both verbal and written

Qualifications

• Must be currently enrolled in an accredited school of nursing program and has completed the first semester of Nursing Fundamentals OR has completed an accredited nursing program within one (1) year and has not obtained their license for Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse

Skills

• Knowledge of age-specific care requirements of geriatric, adult, adolescent, and pediatric patient populations
• Ability to record blood pressures, input & output (I & O), obtain and document blood glucose monitor results, and distribute and collect dietary trays
• Ability to float between assignments and adapt to varying healthcare settings
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance with all safety and infection control policies
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
