Duties
- Reviews and ensures compliance of SD DOC policies, clinical standards, nursing protocols, and clinical documentation.
- Maintain and facilitate progressive patient care through a team approach.
- Delivers patient education, including demonstrating and explaining self-care techniques, anticipating possible complications, informing about side effects, and addressing concerns.
- Aids the Health Services Administrator (HSA) and Clinical Compliance & Education Specialist (CCES) in maintaining clinical skills of nursing staff and unlicensed assistive personnel.
- Identifies and addresses potential problems, establishes priorities, and proposes corrective actions.
- Promotes and is accountable for safety and security of the clinical environment through conscientious observations and sensitive item/contraband control.
- Responsible for payroll, scheduling, and Continuous Performance Communication (CPC) check-ins and appraisals; accountable for completing shift responsibilities.
- Coordinates patient care with other departments/agencies/vendors.
Qualifications
- Current, valid license as a Registered Nurse from the South Dakota Board of Nursing or any state participating in the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
- Three (3) years of full-time experience providing patient care as a Registered Nurse.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in nursing may substitute for one year of the required experience.
- A master's degree or doctorate degree from an accredited college or university in nursing may substitute for two years of the required experience.
