Nurse Scientist

The Nurse Scientist plays a vital role in advancing nursing research and evidence-based practice (EBP) within the health system. They act as leaders, mentors, and champions to ensure clinical nursing practice is grounded in the strongest evidence, contributing to the generation of new knowledge. Responsibilities include facilitating EBP, QI, and research projects; providing consultation on implementation and analysis; guiding nurses in research design and dissemination; and collaborating on innovation councils and initiatives. The role requires guiding critical inquiry, modeling professional nursing behaviors, mentoring staff, and ensuring project accountability. Candidates must hold a Doctorate in Nursing, be licensed as an RN (single or multi-state), and possess certifications such as BLS. A minimum of two years of nursing research experience and recent methodologies supporting QI, EBP, and research are required, with clinical nursing experience and teaching background preferred. Essential skills include strong verbal and written communication, computer proficiency, and experience with research software like Epic, SPSS, and Qualtrics. The role emphasizes leadership in scholarly projects, fostering inquiry, and advancing nursing practice through innovative research and collaboration.
