About the role

The Rapid Response RN provides nursing care to patients utilizing the nursing process and standards of practice for a professional nurse. The role requires floating to North Campus, the Pavilion, and Specialty areas, including the ACC building, Faculty Clinic, both inpatient and outpatient departments in Pavilion, North, and Clinical Center (covering front and back sidewalks of hospital buildings and the employee garage). The Rapid Response RN must comply with all license, certification, and training requirements.

The Rapid Response RN serves as a mentor in the "Walking in the Shoes of a Nurse Leader" program when assigned and is expected to proactively round on assigned patients, respond to activations and codes, lead debriefings, and provide bedside education.

Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care to patients using the nursing process and professional standards.
  • Float to various hospital campuses and departments as required.
  • Respond to activations, codes, and emergencies across assigned areas.
  • Proactively round on assigned patients and provide bedside education.
  • Lead debriefings following critical events.
  • Serve as a mentor in the "Walking in the Shoes of a Nurse Leader" program when assigned.
  • Adhere to hospital policies and Florida Nurse Practice Act guidelines.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in ACLS guidelines.
  • Utilize computer technologies and procedures that impact patient care delivery.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree from an accredited school of nursing (BSN required within three years of hire for new hires effective June 14, 2017).
  • Licensed to practice nursing in the State of Florida.
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
  • ACLS certification from the American Heart Association.
  • PALS certification from the American Heart Association (within 6 months of hire or transfer).
  • NRP certification (within 6 months of hire or transfer).
  • 3–5 years of Critical Care/ICU/ED registered nurse experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • BSN degree from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Professional nursing certification.
  • 3+ years of Critical Care/ICU/ED registered nurse experience.

Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to learn and apply computer technologies affecting patient care.

This role serves patients of all age groups.
