About the role

Community Medical Services (CMS) is hiring a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse to process specimens and provide outpatient medication and treatment services for individuals with opioid use disorder. As a PRN Nurse you will work under the supervision of the Clinic Manager, conduct required testing, maintain medication inventory, audit records, and assist medical providers in creating a safe environment for patients beginning their recovery journey.

Responsibilities

  • Administer medications as ordered/prescribed by a CMS medical provider.
  • Monitor behavioral patterns, medical symptoms, and physical symptoms related to dosage, as well as other symptoms related to drug use and mental health concerns.
  • Obtain vital signs, blood specimens, and urine samples.
  • Process point‑of‑care urine drug screens per company policy.
  • Prepare take‑home medication (n/a in Montana).
  • Monitor medication administration closely to prevent diversion.
  • Report diversion to proper internal authorities.
  • Maintain accurate client records in the company’s EHR system.
  • Document medication errors and respond to adverse medical reactions per company policy.
  • Arrange temporary incoming and outgoing courtesy dosing clients.
  • Deliver medications to external facilities.
  • Order necessary dosing‑room and nursing‑related supplies.
  • Maintain accurate medication inventory records.
  • Adhere to all federal, state, local, and accrediting‑body regulations.
  • Administer CPR if necessary.
  • Collect and process phlebotomy/venipuncture and capillary testing as ordered by the provider.

Requirements

  • Licensed LPN or RN in the state of employment.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Ability to travel to assigned CMS sites.
  • Valid driver’s license and satisfactory motor‑vehicle clearance (driving record for the past 39 months).
  • Experience in the field of substance‑use disorders preferred, but not required.
  • Knowledge of signs of intoxication and opioid withdrawal symptoms.
  • Demonstrated accuracy in medication administration and ability to maintain accurate client records.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Proof of MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) and Varicella (Chickenpox) vaccinations; current flu vaccination or willingness to receive one (medical or religious exemptions permitted).

Schedule

Part‑time schedule preferred; work is performed in an outpatient, doctor‑office‑like setting with frequent patient interaction and conversation throughout the shift.
