The Nurse (RN) – Cardiology position at MarinHealth is part of an integrated, independent healthcare system committed to providing innovative, high-quality care. Responsibilities

  • Triage patients' physical symptoms and arrhythmias and consult with cardiologists as needed.
  • Coordinate patient care for testing services, including bubble studies and definity.
  • Perform cardiac stress tests as needed and coordinate care with the Exercise Physiologist.
  • Work with assigned cardiologists to manage in-basket items, assess for symptoms, and provide follow-up care.
  • Provide pre- and post-operative education for cardiology procedures.
  • Educate patients about their cardiovascular conditions and explain treatment options.
  • Teach patients how to prevent worsening cardiovascular conditions and provide resources.
  • Update medication and problem lists in the Electronic Health Record and ensure follow-up with cardiologists.
  • Review daily lab/test results, physician tasks, and clinical worklists as assigned.
  • Assist the Nurse Supervisor and/or Director with matters related to nursing practices and participate in policy and protocol development.
  • Maintain personal professional development as required for continuing education.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality according to HIPAA guidelines.
  • Respond to emergencies and support the team in acute situations.
  • Maintain and help ensure safety equipment and emergency carts are up-to-date.
  • Promote ongoing communication and collaboration with the clinical manager, physicians, and staff to ensure patient safety and adherence to clinic protocols.
  • Identify and provide solutions to work-related problems and seek ways to improve services.
  • Cover for other staff as necessary both inter and intra-departmentally.
  • Update the Clinical Lead of schedule changes.
  • Represent the clinic and the community as a professional.
  • Attend clinic meetings and special projects as assigned.
  • Participate in educational seminars within the clinic and in the community.
  • Demonstrate positive initiative and cooperation between departments.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree preferred.
  • Current Registered Nurse license from the California Board of Registered Nursing.
  • BLS Certification and ACLS Certification from the American Heart Association required.
  • Minimum of two years of cardiovascular clinic experience and/or hospital nursing experience.
  • Two years of critical care or cardiac inpatient unit experience preferred.
  • Two years of telemetry monitoring experience preferred.
