About the Unit
The Stroke Medical Unit is a 40-bed unit specializing in the care of geriatric patients, offering an interdisciplinary approach to respiratory care. It is a designated stroke unit. Staff must utilize strong organizational and leadership skills to assess patient status, implement clinical nursing interventions, and develop patient care plans to enhance outcomes. Special training on caring for patients on ventilators and responding to unit alarms is required.
About the Role
Provides safe, age-appropriate patient care and functions as an advisor and resource for patients and their families as a member of the patient care team.
Requirements
- Formal working knowledge equivalent to an Associate's degree (2 years of college); knowledge of a specialized field required.
- Bachelor's in Nursing preferred from CCNE-accredited schools.
- Less than 1 year of experience.
- Maryland Registered Nurse License.
- American Heart Association CPR Certification.
- BLS Certification.
