About the Role

The Nurse - preoperative (Preop) / post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) for the Ambulatory Surgical Center (ASC) provides professional nursing services and standards of practice in accordance with level of experience and education, state board of nursing, and established policies and procedures. This role integrates the art, science, leadership, and knowledge of nursing clinical practice through relationship-centered, compassionate, ethical, and respectful direct and indirect healthcare services. The nurse participates as a team member of the total perioperative process and care for patients.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
• Valid RN licensure authorized in the applicable state(s) of practice/employment.
• Valid driver’s license where required by assignment.

Qualifications (Preferred)

• Baccalaureate of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree from an accredited school of nursing.
• Specialty credentialing and educational degree according to clinical nursing practice specialty area.

Physical & Mental Requirements

• Exposure to conditions which may be unpleasant to sight, touch, sound, and/or smell.
• Occasional exposure to fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, biohazards/hazards (mechanical, electrical, burns, chemicals, radiation, sharp objects, etc.).
• Occasional exposure to noise, infectious waste, diseases, and conditions.
• Frequent ability to follow tasks through to completion, understand and relate to complex ideas/concepts, and work on concurrent tasks/projects.
• Frequent ability to read small print, hear sounds and voice/speech patterns, and give/receive instructions and communications with some background noise.
• Frequent manual dexterity activities and/or grasping/handling.
• Occasional ability to climb, kneel, crouch, and/or operate foot controls.
• Occasional use of a computer or other technology.
• Frequent sitting with the ability to vary/adjust physical position or activity.
• Frequent ability to maintain a safe working environment and use available personal protective equipment (PPE).

• Continuous ability to provide assistance in the event of an emergency.
• For Direct Healthcare Services: Continuous lifting of a maximum of 30 pounds unassisted; frequent use of upper and lower extremities, bending/stooping/reaching, and pushing/pulling; continuous performance of work involving physical efforts (e.g., transporting, moving, positioning, and/or ambulating patients).
• For Indirect Healthcare/Support Services: Frequent lifting of a maximum of 30 pounds unassisted; occasional experience of long periods of walking/standing/stooping/bending/pulling/pushing; occasional encounter of a clinical/patient-facing/hands-on interactive work environment.
