Nurse Practitioner Team Leader – Outpatient Cardiology

Job Summary

Provide comprehensive cardiovascular care including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up for outpatient cardiology patients.

Order, interpret, and manage diagnostic tests (e.g., EKGs, stress tests, echocardiograms, labs).

Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans in collaboration with cardiologists.

Educate patients and families on disease management, medications, and lifestyle modifications.

Ensure timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).

Clinical Duties

  • Provide comprehensive cardiovascular care including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up for outpatient cardiology patients.
  • Order, interpret, and manage diagnostic tests (e.g., EKGs, stress tests, echocardiograms, labs).
  • Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans in collaboration with cardiologists.
  • Educate patients and families on disease management, medications, and lifestyle modifications.
  • Ensure timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).

Leadership & Team Management

  • Serve as a clinical leader and mentor for nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and nursing staff.
  • Support onboarding, training, and ongoing professional development of APPs.
  • Provide input into performance evaluations and workflow optimization.
  • Provide clinical coverage across multiple clinics, when needed. May require travel.
  • Act as a liaison between providers, nursing, administration, and cardiology leadership.

Operational Oversight

  • Aid in managing daily clinic operations, staffing, and patient flow to optimize access and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with administrative leadership on scheduling templates, productivity, and resource allocation.
  • Participate in strategic planning and program development for cardiology services.
  • Ensure compliance with institutional policies, regulatory requirements, and quality standards.

Quality & Performance Improvement

  • Lead or participate in quality improvement initiatives and performance metrics tracking.
  • Monitor clinical outcomes, patient satisfaction, and adherence to best practices.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Minimum Qualifications

  • NYS licensed/registered NP or PA required (NYS NP specialty area of certification must be consistent with practice).
  • Must have NPI number and be Medicare Enrolled with Medicare Identification Number (or PTAN).
  • (eligibility criteria for NP requires National Certification through AANP or ANCC, and Master's Degree).
  • (eligibility criteria for PA requires graduation from an accredited PA program and National Certification through NCCPA).
  • Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three-year previous experience with Cardiology or relevant clinical experience.

L5-L6: $99,000 - $165,000

Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as internal equity, market and business considerations. The salary range depicted is based on full time, 1.0 FTE and would be prorated accordingly for less than 1.0 FTE.
